From Aristotle to next, Philosopher have argued about the relation between theoretical and practical reason. In the tradition of philosophy, the mind and the theory always have had priority to body and practice. But according to Gilbert Ryle, the practical knowledge or knowing how is more importance than theoretical knowledge or knowing that. Anti-intellectualists agree with him and intellectualists deny his belief. This distinction have important outcomes in education. Debate about the relationship between educational theory and practice, liberal education and vocational education, academic knowledge and technical knowledge, are influenced by distinction between knowledge and skill. This distinction is factual because they are two different educational paradigms and not reducible to each other. These two different and even opposite systems of education that we can name them as episteme-based and skill-based educations, have different principles, methods and aims, so we establish of fundamental distinction between intellectualism and anti-intellectualism in education.
